An ISS Guckenheimer Facility Reduces Food Waste by 50%, Saving 57,000 meals from landfill each year

ISS, a global leader in facility and workplace services, was looking for a way to reduce food waste in its client food facilities while supporting its sustainability goals. Since 2019, the company has worked with Winnow to address this challenge, including at an ISS Guckenheimer facility in the U.S. that was motivated in part by the Cool Food PLEDGE.

Using Winnow’s VisionControl, the ISS Guckenheimer kitchen weighed and photographed discarded food, then used reports on waste, cost, and CO2e impact to guide daily menu and preparation decisions. The site cut food waste by 50% since April 2022, avoided about $40,000 in annual food costs, and saved 57,000 meals from landfill each year.
