Case Study: Dell achieves faster, lower-cost global localization with Welocalize's 27-engine MT rollout

A Welocalize Case Study

Preview of the Dell Case Study

The Biggest MT Program Ever 27 MT Engines in Nine Months

Dell, a global technology leader with customers in more than 70 countries, needed to scale localization for Dell.com to increase speed-to-market, cut translation costs and maintain quality across varied content types. Welocalize partnered with Dell to introduce a global machine translation (MT) program — deploying enterprise-specific statistical MT (SMT) technology as part of Dell’s broader localization strategy.

Welocalize implemented a large-scale MT deployment (27 MT engines in nine months), continuously trained and tuned SMT systems, preserved existing translation memories, and established a post-editing supply chain with trained translators and a feedback loop. As a result, Welocalize delivered faster turnaround, demonstrable productivity gains with post-edited MT (PEMT), more translated materials without increasing costs, and measurable cost savings while helping Dell expand multilingual reach to customers in 170+ countries.
