Geisinger Health System was managing revenue collections across nine outsourced vendors but faced fragmented data connections, inconsistent update schedules, and limited ability to analyze vendor performance—leaving a dedicated team to perform mostly administrative reconciliation rather than strategic management. To solve this, Geisinger engaged Waystar and implemented the Waystar Agency Manager product to form the foundation of a new, technology-enabled vendor management program.
Waystar’s Agency Manager integrated all file connections, standardized and normalized account- and activity-level data with daily updates, and applied a configurable rules engine plus comparative reporting and fee calculations to automate workflows and enforce policy. As a result, Waystar helped Geisinger achieve an ROI on vendor management exceeding 3:1, a 39% increase in overall yield on outsourced active AR in year one, and a greater than 10% reduction in vendor fees while improving efficiency in managing agency relationships.
