Wavetec helps Codelco provide a safer working environment for its stakeholders through a state of the art LED Display Solution

Codelco, the Chilean state-owned copper giant, needed a reliable, central information display to improve worker safety and rapidly communicate changing hazards (UV levels, landslide risk, etc.) after heightened industry scrutiny following the 2010 mining accident. Codelco engaged Wavetec to provide a durable digital signage solution and content management capability that could withstand the desert’s dust, heat and direct sun.

Wavetec installed a 4 x 2 m outdoor LED display (12 mm pitch) in an aluminum cabinet and supplied its Content Management Software for fast, centralized updates. The Wavetec system delivered real-time safety alerts and flexible messaging (including greetings and notices), improving onsite communications, employee engagement and the speed of critical safety notifications — enhancing Codelco’s overall safety communications (no quantitative figures were provided).
