How Bear Mattress Leveraged Cross-sell Opportunities with VWO and Increased Revenue

Bear Mattress, a New Jersey sleep-wellness retailer founded in 2014, partnered with VWO in September 2020 to optimize its website and boost revenue by improving the “Frequently bought with mattress” cross-sell flow on product detail pages. Using VWO Insights, the VWO Services team found low engagement with the cross-sell section, missing product images, and product-centric copy that failed to persuade buyers.

VWO redesigned the mobile cross-sell flow—adding thumbnail images, customer-centric FAQ-style copy, a conditional Bear Frame option, a subheadline for the frame, and a “Mattress only” choice with a nudge—and ran a 19-day 50/50 A/B test. The variation drove large gains: protector add-to-carts +51.75%, foundation +73%, frame +36.03%, with a 24.18% uplift in purchases and a 16.21% increase in revenue; VWO’s work produced measurable, significant impact.
