AMD.com (Advanced Micro Devices) wanted to increase social sharing of news and updates on its site; the existing ShareThis icon in the footer was underperforming. AMD.com engaged VWO and used VWO’s A/B testing tools to test whether different icon appearances and placements would drive more shares.
Using VWO, AMD.com ran six variants across the support.amd.com subdomain (different positions and chicklet sizes) and ultimately implemented a left-position chicklet with dynamic sizing. The VWO-powered test produced a statistically significant 3,600% (36x) increase in social shares while not harming overall engagement (average engagement conversion remained above 23%).
