Compare Courses Tested CTA Changes To Receive Unexpected Results

Compare Courses, a search engine for educational courses in Australia with a database of 50,000+ courses, needed to boost lead generation from three CTAs (Send Enquiry, Ask an Expert, Request Brochure). To improve conversions on a Bachelor of Accounting landing page, Compare Courses used the VWO platform to test changes and validate optimization ideas.

Using VWO, Compare Courses ran a Split URL test that redesigned the Send Enquiry form (moved it to the right, placed it above the fold, and added a testimonial) and shifted the Ask an Expert placement while leaving Request Brochure unchanged. Results were mixed but revealing: Ask an Expert conversions rose 159.52% (99.99% confidence) and Request Brochure improved 13.3% (99.99%), while the redesigned Send Enquiry fell 53.87% (from 9.71% to 4.48%), costing 100+ leads and reducing overall page conversion—underscoring VWO’s value in testing and tracking all CTAs before committing to changes.
