Case Study: Project N95 achieves scalable life‑saving PPE distribution with VTEX

A VTEX Case Study

Preview of the ProjectN95 Case Study

Project N95’s marketplace architecture got a life-saving upgrade

ProjectN95 is a U.S. nonprofit that quickly became the clearinghouse for sourcing PPE and COVID-19 tests, launching an online marketplace in March 2020 to serve frontline healthcare workers and vulnerable communities. Rapid growth outpaced their initial reverse-auction B2B setup, creating bottlenecks in seller onboarding, product breadth and buyer segmentation—challenges VTEX (with Loop Integration and AWS) was engaged to solve.

VTEX implemented a cloud-based marketplace platform with a gated Trade Policy/Segmentation ID to separate healthcare and non-healthcare buyers, multi-tenant seller environments, a posted-price storefront and an improved OMS. The new VTEX architecture broadened the catalog, smoothed large-scale order processing and boosted performance—average order volume doubled on MVP launch day, customer order inquiries fell 20%, VTEX supported delivery of 3.5M PPE in three months, and ProjectN95 has delivered millions more since.
