How Unilever is facing the challenges of the B2B market

Unilever, a global consumer goods company, sought to modernize its B2B operations in Spain and navigate the digital transformation of the sector. The challenge was to digitalize existing relationships with distributors and independent retailers without disrupting well-established processes, while also expanding its reach and product assortment for its retail clients. To address this, the company partnered with vendor VTEX to implement a B2B marketplace solution.

The solution implemented by VTEX was the "Compre Ahora" marketplace, a platform that groups multiple sellers together to offer a wide range of products, handling logistics and payments. This preserved existing distributor relationships while providing a one-stop-shop for retailers and mapping customer purchase history. According to Unilever, the pilot results were very positive, showing stability and putting the project on the right track. The next steps for the solution from VTEX are to scale the marketplace nationally across Spain.
