VPI Helps Arcata Police Department Go Digital

The Arcata Police Department needed a reliable, scalable and flexible call-and-radio logging solution to replace aging reel‑to‑reel recorders and grow with the agency’s needs. They selected VPI and its VPI Digital Voice Logger to provide a state‑of‑the‑art digital recording system that could integrate with their existing infrastructure and support 9‑1‑1 dispatch operations.

VPI installed the Digital Voice Logger (2001), integrating with Arcata’s NEC PBX and Vesta CTI systems and delivering an open‑architecture, COTS‑based recorder with unlimited channels and storage. The VPI system provided ultra‑reliable capture of all critical dispatch calls, faster incident retrieval and sharing, remote diagnostics, reduced training time thanks to a simple GUI, and lower ongoing maintenance costs by avoiding proprietary hardware/software fixes.
