San Bruno Police Department Saves Time and Increases Productivity with VPI

The San Bruno Police Department, a full-service municipal agency serving roughly 40,000 residents and handling about 28,000 inbound calls annually, needed a reliable, state-of-the-art recording solution that would integrate with its existing Zetron radio and Mitel phone systems, provide 100% recording, extensive online storage, fast retrieval, and scalable channel capacity. After evaluating several options, the department selected VPI’s digital recording system to replace its obsolete proprietary hardware.

VPI implemented a software-driven recording system (currently recording 32 channels with unlimited capacity potential) that uses COTS hardware, integrates seamlessly with existing equipment, and offers remote support via PCAnywhere. The VPI solution with an SQL database reduced call search time from hours to seconds, sped record turnaround, enabled one-click .WAV exports for courts, improved dispatcher training and quality monitoring, and materially increased productivity and efficiency while reducing costs for the San Bruno Police Department.
