Elsevier - Customer Case Study

Elsevier, a leading Health Science and Technology publisher processing 100,000 orders a year at its Linn, Missouri site, struggled with RF scanning: hard-to-read labels, bulky RF guns, manual carton sorting, little visibility into picking errors or productivity, long training times and unbalanced workflows. To solve this, Elsevier chose Voxware’s VoiceLogistics voice-directed warehousing solution.

Voxware implemented a voice-driven picking system (using Voxware’s VoiceLogistics with LXE wearable mobile computers and Metrologic scanners integrated to Elsevier’s Boss WMS) to make picking paper-free and real time. The result: accuracy rose to 99.72%, training time dropped to about 4 hours (≈75% reduction), ROI in 9 months, measurable productivity gains in each- and case-picking and replenishment, and managers regained time previously spent supervising.
