Collaboration with Vocantas Leads to Flexible IVR Solutions Geared Toward Student Success

Ontario College of Arts and Design University sought better ways to improve the student experience, increase retention and support graduation rates. To identify and connect with students who needed help, OCAD U partnered with Vocantas and deployed Vocantas’ Scaller™ interactive voice response solution for outreach campaigns in fall 2013, winter 2014 and fall 2014.

Vocantas’ Scaller produced high engagement and actionable data: fall 2013 calls connected with 68% of students (644 reached; 345 or 54% identified needs), winter 2014 connected 59% (544 reached; 271 or 51% identified needs), and the third deployment reached 64% (600 reached; 412 or 69% identified needs), outperforming the typical higher-education averages. Using Scaller reports and Vocantas’ flexible platform and support, OCAD U centralized follow-up, introduced peer callers and targeted email campaigns to reduce call fatigue, improve referrals and build stronger student relationships, producing measurable improvements in outreach and student support.
