T-Mobile US, a national telecommunications provider serving 81 million customers and generating $43.3 billion in 2018 revenue, sought to improve containerization support for its DevOps teams. The company needed to eliminate security and management issues from teams running container platforms themselves, upgrade infrastructure that was slowing product delivery, and introduce automation to reduce administration workload.

T-Mobile implemented VMware Enterprise PKS (with BOSH) to provide unified container management, high availability, scalability, and persistent storage along with out-of-the-box Kubernetes upgrades, OS patching, and infrastructure maintenance. As a result, development and deployment of new services accelerated, administration workload dropped, and a two-person team can now manage the entire Kubernetes environment.
