Zuora, a provider of end-to-end order-to-revenue solutions for subscription businesses, moved from a monolithic architecture to microservices and made each team accountable for internal SLAs. Their initial log-based monitoring and a Graphite/Grafana stack became tedious, costly and maintenance-heavy—requiring dedicated engineers and infrastructure—so monitoring was distracting from product development as they scaled.

After 18 months they switched to cloud-delivered VMware Tanzu Observability, first piping existing data in for parallel viewing and then sending telemetry directly from apps into a centralized pipeline. The platform enabled team dashboards, synthetic-transaction checks, performance and error monitoring, and post-deploy analysis; about 80% of engineers adopted it, improving visibility, SLA compliance and reducing the operational burden of maintaining monitoring infrastructure.
