Swisscom Uses Kubernetes to Extend its Business on Cloud Choice

Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecom and IT services provider, needed to diversify revenue and speed up delivery of digital services as traditional voice and mobile income declined. The company required a secure, multi‑tenant Kubernetes platform that could run across on‑premises and public clouds and be managed by a small team for both internal and enterprise customers.

By adopting VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid with NSX‑T and vSphere, Swisscom operationalized a Kubernetes-as-a-Service that integrated with its existing VMware ecosystem. Launched in 2019, the solution reduced development costs, improved time‑to‑market, enabled secure multi‑tenant hosting and multi‑cloud flexibility, and strengthened Swisscom’s strategic partnership with VMware while opening the door to additional cloud services for customers.
