Universal Music Group processes 500 million sales lines per month with Vistex

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world's largest music company, faced a challenge in processing immense volumes of global revenue data from digital sales, physical sales, and licensing. Their legacy systems were unable to handle the high-throughput, scalable processing needed to efficiently manage royalties and payments to artists. UMG turned to vendor Vistex to implement a solution using SAP margin optimization solutions.

Vistex implemented a Global Clearing House (GCH) platform for UMG, which consolidated global revenue processing onto a single, highly configurable system. The solution, powered by SAP HANA, can process 500 million sales lines per month and ingest data at a rate of 12 million lines per hour. This transformed intercompany accounting for UMG, reducing the overall processing timeline by months and providing artists and rightsholders with more frequent insights and reporting.
