How the City of Surrey engages its citizens and improves policy

The City of Surrey, a fast-growing Canadian city of 500,000 people, wanted a better way to connect with and engage its citizens as new residents continued to arrive each month. To address this challenge, the city worked with Vision Critical, using its platform to create an online community called City Speaks.

Vision Critical helped launch City Speaks so residents could share feedback, ask questions, and join discussion forums in a two-way dialogue with local government. The result was a stronger channel for citizen engagement and a better sense of connection to the community, with Mayor Dianne Watts noting the value of Vision Critical’s expertise in supporting the initiative.
