How Art Gallery NSW learns about their audience

Art Gallery NSW, Australia’s leading public gallery, was facing growing competition and rising audience expectations, putting pressure on it to improve public access and the overall visitor experience. To become more customer-centric and gather ongoing feedback, the gallery worked with Vision Critical and launched Gallery Insider, an insight community of more than 2,000 members and visitors.

Using Vision Critical’s software, Art Gallery NSW gathered direct audience feedback to shape campaigns and improve the visitor journey. The results were significant: a “Greats” exhibition campaign informed by community input drove 33% of total visitors, compared with just 2% for past campaigns, far exceeding sales targets and helping the gallery make better decisions across marketing, strategy, and experience design.
