PortoBay Hotels, which markets a portfolio of properties through an in‑house content, design and digital team, faced the May 2018 GDPR deadline requiring explicit email consent from its customer database. To avoid getting lost among a flood of GDPR communications and to remind repeat guests of the value of staying connected, the team needed a distinctive, personalized outreach.
They used Vidyard to deliver the “Say I Do” campaign: personalized videos starring CEO António Trindade and recognizable staff, produced in Portuguese, German, French and English and sent to 90,000 contacts. The effort drove a 28% email open rate, 11% click‑through rate, 70% average viewer retention and 22,000 digital authorizations (plus 5,000 from mailed postcards), garnered enthusiastic guest feedback and earned a Vidyard Video in Marketing Storyteller Award.
