iSelect, an Australian contact center and insurance-comparison business, faced high early attrition among new sales hires and a slow, labor-intensive three-stage recruitment process that relied on résumé review and phone screening but failed to validate the soft skills (resilience, determination, aptitude) they needed. Assessment center no-shows were common and hiring managers lacked confidence that shortlisted candidates truly had the competencies required.
iSelect implemented Vervoe’s skills-assessment platform, involving sales leaders to build role-specific assessments and moving the Vervoe test to the start of hiring so all applicants were evaluated on core competencies before any CV review. The Vervoe solution eliminated bias, improved candidate preparedness, cut time-to-hire by 50%, and raised assessment-center attendance from 50% to 75–100%, while saving the team significant time by no longer reviewing résumés until after hiring decisions.
