How Australia Post is developing the best tech talent, from all walks of life

Australia Post launched a Tech Academy to train career-ready tech talent without requiring prior tech experience, creating a challenge for traditional résumé-based hiring amid expected high applicant volumes. To manage the first-stage evaluation of applicants, Allegis engaged Vervoe and used Vervoe’s A.I.-powered candidate evaluation platform (Talent Trial) to design a candidate-centric assessment that measured motivation and capability rather than background.

Vervoe’s platform delivered text, audio and spreadsheet tasks and auto-ranked candidates using over 150 data points, allowing Australia Post’s talent team to efficiently review responses. More than 2,500 people applied in one month; 1,268 were invited to complete a Talent Trial on Vervoe and 1,123 (89%) submitted it. With only 400 places to progress, Vervoe’s A.I. auto-ranking helped shortlist at scale, improve diversity, provide timely outcomes and generate overwhelmingly positive candidate feedback.
