A Vertical Communications Case Study

Town of Canton Votes High Carrier Costs Out of Office, Ushers in New Era of Mobility

The Town of Canton, Massachusetts, needed to replace a patchwork of outdated phone systems across nine facilities and cut high carrier costs while supporting employees who work in the field. Vertical Communications provided the Vertical Wave IP unified communications platform, along with WaveNet and ViewPoint Mobile, to bring consistency, centralization, and modern mobility features to the town’s communications.

Vertical Communications implemented Wave IP at Town Hall to network all locations together while preserving much of the existing legacy equipment, splitting the network between IP and digital phones to reduce hardware spend. The result was a major cost reduction from nearly $3,000 a month in phone lines to about $500, plus another $200 a month saved by eliminating a third-party voicemail provider, while improving productivity, presence visibility, and remote access for town staff.
