Peoria Public Schools Enhances Security, Communications with Wave IP

Peoria Public Schools, one of the largest school districts in Illinois, needed to improve safety and streamline communications across more than 30 facilities. Its existing network was piecemeal, with inconsistent dial plans, limited features, and standalone systems in many buildings, so the district turned to Vertical Communications and its Wave IP communications platform to modernize its infrastructure.

Vertical Communications consolidated 14 servers into seven Wave IP platforms, connected legacy phones, added Wave IP-based 911, Wave Live Image, and ViewPoint Desktop, and integrated building access controls to strengthen security. The district cut legacy line usage, saving nearly $3,000 per month, improved emergency response with classroom-level 911 location pinpointing, and gave staff easier self-service tools that reduced IT workload and boosted productivity.
