A Vertexone Case Study

Preview of the Park City Water Department Case Study

Powering Leak Alerts with AMI

Park City Water Department in Park City, Utah, had invested in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) but struggled to turn the interval data into reliable leak detection and to drive customer engagement. Water Conservation IT Coordinator Jason Christensen wanted an online customer portal and better leak alerts; the utility partnered with Vertexone and its WaterSmart platform to provide Home Water Reports, a white-labeled Customer Portal, and utility analytics.

Vertexone used WaterSmart to integrate AMI data, deliver personalized Home Water Reports, and send automated leak alerts and fix suggestions. The program launched to 4,200 residential customers in May 2014, produced over 150 leak alerts in the first three months (with 70% closed within ten days), and now gives about 5,200 customers portal access; staff use the analytics dashboard for proactive outreach, and Vertexone reports customer satisfaction improvements (over 35%) and reduced costs from faster leak resolution.
