A Verint Systems Case Study
EMC Corporation, a global leader in information infrastructure, needed a scalable, centrally managed video surveillance system as its growing mix of campuses and field offices outpaced an aging analog/DVR CCTV solution. The legacy system was costly, hard to maintain and upgrade, and impractical to monitor remotely—each DVR handled few cameras, required onsite maintenance, and made centralized oversight of hundreds of locations impossible.
EMC replaced DVR silos with an open, IP-based architecture using Dell servers, Verint Nextiva IP video management, and EMC CLARiiON storage, with a master server for centralized indexing and control; small offices stream to data‑center recorders, bandwidth-limited sites use local recorders, and large sites use combined master/recorder units. The phased rollout produced dramatic savings (about $900 vs. $10,900 per small office—a 10:1 improvement—and typical 6:1 savings for other sites), avoided nearly $500K in DVR replacement plus $32K/year in maintenance, projected $77K of energy savings over five years, and delivered centralized monitoring, tamper‑proof archiving, and analytics-enabled incident response.
