A Verint Systems Case Study
Minneapolis–St. Paul Metropolitan Council and its Metro Transit subsidiary operate public transportation across a seven-county region, running an 893‑bus fleet and providing roughly 95 million rides in 2008. Rapidly growing ridership exposed limitations in the agency’s legacy analog security systems, creating a need for a reliable, scalable IP video platform to better protect passengers and operators.
The Council deployed Verint Transit across its fleet—initial rollouts replaced analog recorders and the program expanded to cover more than 400 buses—bringing high‑quality video, automated health checks, tamper detection and proactive alerts. The upgrade improved situational awareness and emergency response, helped deter and resolve onboard incidents, and supported identification, arrests and prosecutions, strengthening overall passenger and driver safety.
