A Verint Systems Case Study
Mayo Clinic, an integrated multi‑specialty center with two hospitals and more than 1,500 physicians, faced the challenge of securely connecting satellite buildings located 5–15 miles from its Rochester campus and scaling CCTV across multiple campuses. A digital pilot that began in 2001 with about 20 cameras grew to 120 and then roughly 1,000 cameras, prompting a migration from DVRs to network video recorders and raising issues around network bandwidth, centralized management and cross‑department collaboration between security, facilities and IT.
The clinic deployed Verint’s Nextiva networked video management and analytics on off‑the‑shelf NVR servers, converting cameras to TCP/IP devices and integrating video, access control and alarms through middleware for a single interface. The system provides centralized, motion‑activated recording and distributed viewing (PCs and mobile), creates redundant operations across campuses, shortens response times and reduces staffing needs—delivering enterprise‑scale monitoring, cost savings and proactive security across Mayo’s dispersed facilities.
