Macmillan Cancer Support, a UK-based charity serving millions affected by cancer, needed a 24/7 way for patients, caregivers and supporters to connect, share their “journey,” and find peer advice alongside clinical and practical resources. The challenge was to create an accessible, moderated space that matched the Macmillan brand and complemented its existing services.

Macmillan built an integrated, branded online community (60,000+ members worldwide) featuring blogs, forums, topic-specific groups, real-time chat, tagging and favorites, plus social media integration and clinical content. The community grows by about 1,000 members a month and has improved members’ healthcare experience by providing around-the-clock peer support and increasing awareness and use of Macmillan’s services.
