The City of Surat, India—a densely populated industrial hub of about 4.4 million people across 126 square miles—launched the Gujarat “Safe City” initiative to improve public safety, emergency response and law enforcement effectiveness. The project, led by the Surat City Police and Surat Traffic Education Trust in partnership with Innovative Telecom & Software and Verint, addressed challenges from high population density and concentrated industry by centralizing security operations and situational awareness.

Surat deployed Verint Enterprise Video Management Software and Verint PSIM in a new command-and-control center, initially installing 100+ cameras and a 280-foot video wall to monitor key traffic corridors and entry points. The solution delivers real-time situational awareness, automated system health monitoring, quick video export for investigations, and role-based access via web and mobile clients—enabling 24/7 surveillance, faster evidence-sharing, a proactive security posture, and plans to expand coverage to more than 5,000 locations.
