A Verint Systems Case Study
The City of Guayaquil’s municipal public-safety corporation (CSCG) oversees coordination among 30–40 agencies to protect a metropolitan population of about 3.75 million. Facing an aging analog surveillance infrastructure but a need for scalable, modern monitoring to improve emergency response, traffic management, public engagement and interagency coordination, CSCG sought a robust video management platform that could grow with the city’s needs.
In 2008 CSCG deployed Verint Enterprise VMS with encoders to bring cameras onto an IP network and upgraded its command-center displays; by 2014 the system grew to 800 cameras (more than 475 IP) with plans for ~1,200. The upgrade enabled faster investigations and information sharing with other agencies, improved traffic control and enforcement (e.g., garbage violations), effective coordination during riots and disasters, lower crime rates and easy scalability for future expansion.
