Terumo Enables Global Collaboration and Clinical Excellence for Groundbreaking Medtech Research

Terumo, a global medical technology leader with products in cardiac, vascular, transfusion, and medical care distributed in over 160 countries, faced fragmented, regional clinical operations built on manual, paper-based processes. Rising regulatory demands (including the EU Medical Device Regulation), rapid digitalization accelerated by COVID‑19, and a growing volume of international studies made the status quo untenable and created an urgent need for global standardization, transparency, and scalable collaboration.

Terumo formed a global task force ("Sekai") and selected Veeva Vault CTMS and eTMF to centralize document, timeline, site, and finance management. Rolled out globally between 2019–2021, the solution standardized workflows, improved cross‑team collaboration, and strengthened governance—delivering greater efficiency and productivity and establishing the foundation for a global clinical center of excellence and future decentralized research.
