Kronos Bio Simplifies and Streamlines Study Builds

Kronos Bio, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical focused on oncology, struggled with a legacy EDC system that made study builds slow, labor-intensive, and highly customized. Building casebooks and forms required extensive programming and lengthy UAT cycles, forcing the company to launch trials with far fewer cycles than planned (e.g., 8 instead of 20) and limiting its ability to run the studies it wanted.

Kronos adopted an Agile Design approach with Veeva Vault EDC, using a forms library and building casebooks directly from the protocol so dynamics automatically generated assessments instead of pre-building every permutation. Real-time review sessions, rapid configuration (a major protocol change was implemented in three days), and integration with 4G Clinical’s RTSM sped study startup, reduced site errors, and gave Kronos the flexibility and control to execute complex oncology trials.
