Boehringer Ingelheim Standardizes All Prescription Medicine Commercial Teams Worldwide on Cloud-Based, Veeva CRM and iRep

Boehringer Ingelheim, a Top‑20 global pharmaceutical company with 145 affiliates and more than 42,000 employees, needed to replace an aging client–server CRM and standardize its prescription medicine commercial and medical teams worldwide. After evaluating major CRM vendors and running a three‑month pilot, the company chose a cloud-based, industry‑specific solution that would avoid expensive customizations and support more than 13,500 users across 60 markets.

They implemented Veeva CRM and iRep, a multitenant cloud platform offering point‑and‑click configuration, transparent updates, advanced reporting and iPad access; 650 users in Russia are already live and global rollout is planned over two years. Boehringer Ingelheim expects reduced complexity and costs, a global CRM capability framework, faster adaptation to business and local requirements, and improved salesforce effectiveness.
