Case Study: Elavon achieves faster, more accurate compensation—cutting processing from two weeks to 48 hours—with Varicent

A Varicent Case Study

Preview of the Elavon Case Study

Improving payment accuracy while reducing monthly processing from two weeks to two days

Elavon, part of U.S. Bancorp, is a global payment processor serving more than one million merchants and managing compensation for roughly 800 internal sales staff and 2,400 external partners. The company processed close to 25 million compensable transactions per month but relied on fragmented, IT‑intensive legacy systems that were error‑prone, slow and lacked visibility—making commission calculations, timely payouts and dispute resolution cumbersome and costly.

Elavon implemented IBM Incentive Compensation Management to automate compensation processing and give business users control over partner and product configurations. The solution handles nearly 25 million transactions monthly, cut book‑closing payout visibility from about two weeks to 48 hours (an improvement of more than 85%), improved payment accuracy, streamlined dispute workflows and enabled better reporting and multi‑language support to aid talent identification and retention.
