Getty Images, a leading provider of digital media, needed a more strategic way to motivate sales and capture larger, more profitable opportunities. Their compensation process was manual and spreadsheet-based, with region-specific rules, complex formulas and slow email approvals, which made modeling, auditing and executive visibility difficult and caused errors and payout delays.

By implementing IBM Incentive Compensation Management, Getty automated calculations while retaining regional flexibility, added workflow for approvals and disputes, and provided online commission statements and executive reporting. The change eliminated spreadsheet inaccuracies, sped up modeling (accelerator changes that once took days were done in 30 minutes with reports an hour later), improved auditability and visibility, and created a foundation for more strategic compensation to drive new-product and higher-value sales.
