Marks & Spencer launches Mobile Pay Go in 13 weeks with Valtech

Valtech partnered with high street retailer Marks & Spencer to develop the Mobile Pay Go service. M&S faced the challenge of placing digital at the heart of its business and improving the in-store experience, with an ambitious vision to create a mobile-first shopping experience. They needed to deliver this innovative service rapidly to coincide with a new store opening, but internal development teams were engaged on other projects, requiring an external partner.

Working collaboratively, Valtech's team built and deployed the Mobile Pay Go app on Azure Kubernetes, integrating it with M&S systems and Stripe for payments. The solution enabled customers to scan products and pay within the M&S app, bypassing checkout queues. The entire service, from start to finish, was delivered in just 12 weeks for a live trial, allowing customers to scan and pay for items in approximately 10 seconds.
