A Valtech Case Study

Preview of the BMW Case Study

BMW launches a global stock-car matchmaking platform across 15 countries with Valtech

BMW, a leading premium automobile manufacturer, faced a challenge with its online sales process. The customer journey for finding stock cars was fragmented, relying on third-party websites that listed BMWs alongside competitors. This process involved buying back their own car data in the form of leads, which BMW's head of Digital for Northern Europe described as a "customer journey from hell." They partnered with vendor Valtech to create a solution that would allow them to own their data and keep customers within their own channels.

Valtech implemented a digital car matchmaking service that transformed the customer journey. The solution went beyond a simple configurator, using a personality matrix to help users find the right BMW based on both practical needs and personal preferences. Built on a flexible Microservices architecture using Microsoft Azure, the platform is a sustainable, scalable application that allows for future integrations. This approach enabled BMW to own its destiny by controlling its data and providing a seamless, personalized experience that guides customers from discovery to ordering a specific car at their chosen dealership.
