Case Study: Voith Group achieves global software cost reduction with USU Software Asset Management

A USU Solutions Case Study

Preview of the Voith Group Case Study

Voith Group centralizes and simplifies Microsoft Server costs and contracts with USU

Voith Group, a global engineering company with more than 43,000 employees in over 50 countries, struggled with decentralized software license management across four divisions. Software license data was tracked manually by 160 managers, creating heavy administrative effort, errors, and difficulty managing complex Microsoft Server licensing as well as Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle products. USU Solutions was brought in to help with software asset management.

USU Solutions implemented USU Software Asset Management to centralize license management, improve data quality, and support compliant processes, including a transfer database for SCCM data and secure data handling. The result was reduced software overhead through global standardization and automated license analysis, optimized contract and purchasing processes, and significant cost reductions in Voith’s Microsoft Enterprise Agreement. Voith also gained a group-wide view of license agreements and usage, enabling faster decisions based on current data and automatically generated reports.
