Case Study: The Readability Consortium improves reading technology with UserTesting

A UserTesting Case Study

Preview of the The Readability Consortium Case Study

The Readability Consortium boosts reading speed by 25 words per minute with UserTesting

The Readability Consortium, a non-profit collaboration between Adobe, Google, Readability Matters, and the University of Central Florida, faced the global challenge of poor reading proficiency. They sought to use technology to improve reading outcomes for people of all skill levels. To validate their research and designs, they partnered with UserTesting.

UserTesting provided the platform for the Consortium to rapidly test reader preferences and behaviors with real people. This actionable human insight gave the researchers confidence in their study designs and solutions, such as Adobe's Liquid Mode. Initial results showed individuated reading settings could increase reading speed by more than 25 words per minute on average. UserTesting played a key role in this effort to create more accessible reading technology.
