Wise is a global fintech that helps more than 10 million people and businesses move and manage money across borders, processing over £5 billion monthly. As the company scaled, it needed deeper customer insights to improve its app, website and product decisions; hiring Jennifer Lee as its first qualitative researcher was an experiment in shifting a culture long focused on engineering and analytics toward user-centered research.

Jennifer implemented a UserTesting subscription in 2018 to deliver fast, scalable qualitative insights, ran companywide UX Research 101 training, and democratized access to testing. The result: a 12-person research team, up to 30 remote tests per week and 5–10 live studies monthly, 250% growth in research participants, 43% cost savings versus traditional methods, and tangible business impact such as a 400% increase in page views from marketing-led tests.
