A UserTesting Case Study
TaxSlayer is a family‑owned financial technology company (founded 1965) that provides tax preparation services to consumers. The team noticed users were spending an unusually long time on the Income Form selection page and set out to improve scannability, ease of use, and overall time on task.
They designed two new form‑selection approaches and validated them with usability tests via UserTesting, measuring self‑reported ease and time on task. The redesign cut the average time to find a form from 17.65 seconds to 3.63 seconds (a 79% reduction) and produced a 7.37% year‑over‑year drop in time on page, improving speed and customer satisfaction for preparers.
