How Panera Bread cooked up a new catering website to earn an 18% increase in revenue per visit

Panera Bread’s Product & UX team needed to bring customer feedback into a new catering website experience while making ordering more personalized and frictionless for guests and MyPanera members. Working with UserTesting and prototype designs in Figma, the team set out to validate the order setup, checkout, and overall usability before launch.

Using UserTesting, Panera Bread gathered feedback from a diverse mix of customers and prospects, which revealed confusion between retail and catering sites, the need for clearer customization options, and opportunities to simplify ordering. As a result, Panera redesigned the catering site’s look and functionality, including a clearer tab structure, a one-page ordering flow, and faster ways to reorder and place larger bundle orders; the result was a more intuitive experience that supported Panera’s conversion goals.
