A Unity Case Study
Tata Daewoo Mobility, a commercial vehicle manufacturer, faced significant challenges in validating Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) for its wide array of truck variants. The high-mix, low-volume nature of their production made building physical prototypes for every model prohibitively expensive and time-consuming. Their existing simulation-only methods also lacked accuracy, creating a gap between predicted and actual vehicle performance. This pressure to reduce development costs and time while improving accuracy led them to seek a new solution with Unity.
Using Unity Industry, specifically the Asset Transformer and Asset Manager tools, Tata Daewoo's NVH team built a standalone virtual reality tool. This solution combined real measured test data with CAD design data optimized and imported into a virtual environment. The result was a highly accurate (~95% accuracy) NVH validation tool that allows engineers to interact with and evaluate noise sources at full scale without a physical prototype. This approach drastically reduced the cost and waste associated with building vehicle samples and prototypes, supporting both faster development and more sustainable management.
