Volvo Cars partnered with Unity to reimagine how vehicles are designed, engineered, manufactured, and sold. The automaker needed an integrated, cross-department toolchain to connect teams using different CAD, AR, and VR tools so they could collaborate earlier and more effectively across the full vehicle lifecycle.
Unity’s real-time 3D platform became the connective layer in Volvo Cars’s pipeline, enabling virtual prototyping, behavior validation, training, and consumer-facing experiences. The solution improved design-engineering collaboration, sped up iteration, reduced reliance on physical prototypes, and created more immersive buying experiences; Volvo also scaled usage to 40 Unity users, with 25 active users and a core team of 10 building the pipeline and integrations.
