How Pocket FM monetized their non-paying users with ads and offerwall, boosting revenue 20%

Pocket FM, the Indian audiobook app studio behind the popular Pocket FM app, wanted to monetize its non-paying users without hurting its existing in-app purchase business. To do so, the team worked with Unity and its Tapjoy offerwall solution to explore a hybrid monetization model that could complement their virtual currency economy.

Unity helped Pocket FM implement rewarded video ads first, then the Tapjoy offerwall, with additional optimization through Unity LevelPlay. The results were strong: revenue increased 20% without cannibalizing IAPs, retention rose 20%, and session length grew 5%. Later optimizations, including currency sales and additional ad networks, helped Pocket FM nearly double offerwall revenue.
