How Coatsink reduced web load time for Ready, Set, Cook! by 25%

Coatsink, the UK-based studio behind Ready, Set, Cook!, wanted to move its cooperative restaurant management game from desktop web to mobile for Messenger Rooms. The team’s main challenge was optimizing the experience for mobile web, where load time, screen orientation, and limited bandwidth could all affect whether players stayed long enough to reach the game.

Working with Unity, Coatsink used Unity Web optimization tools and build settings, including Brotli compression, IL2CPP smaller builds, high managed stripping, and Unity’s WebAssembly tool, along with AssetBundles and Addressables to reduce download size and improve delivery. Unity and Coatsink helped cut load time by 25%, shrink the Wasm file by 2.5% (about 4 MB), and reduce transfer and unpacking times by 10%, making the game faster to access on mobile browsers.
