Preview of the BASIX Sub-K Case Study

BASIX Sub-K leverages voice technology to enable secure and scalable Mobile Bankin

BASIX Sub‑K, the financial inclusion arm of BASIX, needed a low‑cost, scalable way to bring banking to low‑literacy, rural customers using a variety of basic mobile phones while meeting strict security requirements. To address varied literacy, limited budgets, diverse handset types and fraud concerns, Sub‑K partnered with Uniphore to deploy Uniphore’s Mobile Voice Banking powered by voice biometrics and multilingual speech recognition.

Uniphore implemented a voice‑first solution combining voice biometrics with a spoken passphrase, interactive multilingual IVR and integration with Sub‑K’s backend, aggregators and five banks (plus Bluetooth receipt printers at agent outlets). As of March 2012 the deployment helped create over 1,000 Business Correspondent Outlets, onboard five top banks, cut costs, enable real‑time transactions and expand services (banking, NREGA, money transfers, utility/top‑ups), directly supporting Sub‑K’s financial inclusion goals.
