Solvay, a Brussels‑headquartered international chemical group with about 30,000 employees in 55 countries, faced high costs and operational complexity from a fragmented network of multi‑vendor PBXs linking thousands of extensions. The company needed a global, centrally managed unified communications solution to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO), improve service quality and manageability, and enable more flexible, mobile working.
Solvay signed a managed‑services contract with Unify to deploy a centralized OpenScape Voice and OpenScape UC Application, integrating existing PBXs, contact centers, mobility, collaboration and QoS controls across an initial 5,000–6,000 ports. The consolidated platform delivered a 30% reduction in TCO, simplified cabling and moves, lower international and roaming charges, higher employee availability and productivity, and stronger contact‑center performance (about 72,000 requests/year with 99.7% answered within four seconds and under 0.5% lost calls).
