Horndean Technology College, an 11–16 school in Hampshire with a strong academic reputation, was held back by an aging telephony system: a single incoming route, too few extensions, unreliable voicemail and shared handsets meant messages were missed, reception couldn’t locate staff or relay accurate information, and parents reported a poor experience.
Peach Telecom deployed Unify’s HiPath 3800 and OpenScape Office HX over an ISDN30 backbone (using existing cabling), adding extensions, presence, voicemail, call management and MyPortal/Outlook integration, with training and a two-week cutover. The result was lower telephony costs, faster and more accurate caller handling, improved staff productivity and collaboration, standardized messaging, positive parent feedback and a scalable foundation for future UC needs.
